Eat, Pray, Love...the Kim Smith Version

This blog started as a travel blog to chronicle my adventures spending a month in the States with those I hold near and dear, a week in Phuket and a month in India studying yoga with Guruji and Sharath. My month in India has expanded as I succumbed to her charms. I came here to immerse myself in Pattabhi Jois' Ashtanga Yoga but am drowning willingly, blissfully in Patanjali's Ashtanga Yoga. I hope you enjoy reading about both my outer and inner journeys. Contact details: ks2@pobox.com

Slack Line, October 6, 2008

As if our Ashtanga practice wasn't physically challenging enough, this is one of the ways we choose to spend our time off the mat. See "Arne, The Lemur's" video here.

seeped in gratitude
I rejoice
spirit awakened
a life time changed
for I have dipped my soul in the ocean of yoga

JUDE'S SPICEY CHAI RECIPE

10 Decaffeinated Chai Bags OR 5 Bags of Strong Tea
Pinch of masala tea spice (optional)
½-1 tsp Cardmon powder (grind seeds in coffee grinder for better flavor)
1 tsp powdered ginger or 2 inch slab root ginger chopped up
1 tsp cinnamon powder
1 ½- 2 cups water
1 package Creamy Original Soy or 2-1/2 cups cows milk
Sweetener of choice - maple syrup, organic cane sugar, jaggary

Bring water to boil, add tea bags, and spice and simmer for 5 minutes.
Take out tea bags, whisk the liquid to dissolve the spice if necessary.
Add milk- if soy just heat but do not boil but if cows bring to boil and simmer for 5-10 minutes.
Change the amounts of spice to suit - these amounts create a strong flavor!
Add sweetener.
Serves 4-5 people.
